Robert Downey Jr. Wants to Clean Our Planet with Nanotechnology.
Actor Robert Downey Jr. is famous for portraying genius inventor and billionaire extraordinaire Tony Stark, also known as Iron Man, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now it seems that he is using his fame to bring awareness to a problem that is affecting all of us: a polluted world, but it looks like the actor might have the answer to that problem.
The actor said that he was launching a new foundation that would harness robotics and nanotechnology to clean up the planet. The Footprint Coalition will begin operations by April 2020, with the stated aim of tidying up our home in the next decade. Somewhat more specifically, Downey Jr. said, robotics and nanotechnology, as well as artificial intelligence, could help clean up the environment more quickly than people realise
During the Amazon’s Re: Mars conference, Downey Jr. announced the formation of a new organization called the Footprint Coalition. This organization is expected to officially launch in 2020 where its goal is to help clean up the world using nanotech. According to Downey Jr., he believes that with the right technology, we could clean up the planet in 10 years.
Unfortunately, the actor did not share any additional details about the organization and how exactly they would be going about cleaning up the planet, aside from mentioning nanotech, so we’ll just have to wait and see. This is not the first time the actor has shown interest in tech, where together with his wife, Susan Downey, they have been producing a douc-series about AI on YouTube about the kind of impact that the tech is expected to have on our lives.
