Supply chain & Freight business launches global tech hub.

Yorkshire has laid out the red-carpet welcome to Ligentia, the freight and supply chain management provider, as the firm relocates its global software development function from Asia to University of Leeds innovation hub.
Ligentia, which offers international freight, fulfilment, and supply chain management services across several sectors, has worked with the Nexus’ Engagement Manager for Skills and Talent and the careers service, to attract and recruit top graduate talent to the growing team.
Doug Brady, a former University of Leeds PhD student, was appointed as Global Technology Director in July and leads the team based at Nexus. The development team will be responsible for designing and developing the next generation of Ligentix – the firm’s supply management software.
Strengthening Nexus’ position as the place to grow and develop tech in the region, the move comes as the organisation launches branding and unveils its strategy to invest in innovative artificial intelligence technology and machine learning to shape the next generation of freight solutions.

“Most recently our focus has been to employ new technologies such as robotic process automation and AI where we have increasingly needed access to a larger pool of technology expertise and talent.
“This year we made the decision to consolidate our Asian-based technology resources into a new technology centre based in the UK, with Nexus and indeed Yorkshire a clear winner following an in-depth review of several options.
“At Ligentia we anticipate investing £8m over three years in our technology development and deployment, and Nexus has proven to be an ideal partner by combining a strong engagement team with a leading computing and supply chain department at the University of Leeds, as well as access to high quality graduates and post-graduate candidates.”
