ESP, who recently moved to a new multimillion purpose-built home at Blackmore Park in Malvern, converts tissue products, including paper hand towels and toilet rolls for the Professional Cleaning, Industrial and Healthcare sectors,Previously made in China, these dispensers will now be manufactured in Malvern after ESP partnered up with UK technical injection moulding specialists, Talisman Plastics. The primary aim of the move is to bring production back to the UK to create more local jobs, whilst also reducing the company’s carbon footprint. In addition, a reduced lead time will enable ESP to offer more flexibility and better efficiency to their distributors.

Craig Williams, Sales Director at ESP, says “Purchasing from Asia can have its benefits but it also comes with its challenges. Larger orders longer lead times and different time zones are just a few, but by moving the production back to the UK, we have managed to eliminate these issues, whilst supporting local employment.

Talisman Plastics managing director, Shaun Champion, highlights the need for UK manufacturers to provide added value, flexibility and high quality in order to support re-shoring of UK manufacturing. ‘We worked closely with ESP to help them re-shore production of these dispensers. Developing a close understanding of ESP’s needs was key to making this a success and we are delighted to have now forged this new partnership” concludes Shaun.
The contract has been handed to Talisman Plastics, which is based in Worcester.
Sales director Craig Williams said: “Manufacturing in Asia can create limitations for the supply chain.
“Larger orders and longer lead times required to make shipments economical are just part of the story.
“Communications can also be restrictive with time differences between UK and Asia. With Talisman Plastics we have already benefited from added value in the supply chain that was not previously possible.
“Responsible and sustainable sourcing is at the heart of our business and has driven this decision to move production to the UK. It is already contributing to a reduction in the environmental impact of our operations and supports local employment.”
This is the latest in a series of contract wins for Talisman Plastics that has seen the company increase sales by 15 per cent over the last 18 months.
