New Biffa acquisition wins £2.5m account.
Birmingham Wholesale Market has appointed Biffa’s latest acquisition, Weir Waste, to manage waste across its new £50m site.
Weir Waste, which was acquired by Biffa in a £16.2m deal in August, was appointed by the market to support waste management at its new 360,400 sq. ft site in The Hub industrial park.
The contract is worth £2.5m over five years and was awarded following a tender process.
The contract will see Biffa work with the 55 vendors on site to manage and monitor waste.
Alex Kendrick, key account manager at Biffa, said: “Our commitment to education was a key factor in our appointment and we’ve already delivered 25 hours of well-received training to highlight the commercial and environmental benefits of recycling.
